As we’re put the finishing touches on the year, we’re unbelievably proud of the team’s accomplishments.
First, we reimagined a new mission that broadens our horizon across the entire state. Now, we are focused on Washington State’s most fragile species. More info is here.
Next, in collaboration with an environmentalist, we researched and published articles describing twelve endangered species that call (or have called) Washington home. Through this work, we learned that:
- Several species, including the yellow-billed cuckoo, vesper sparrow, streaked horned lark, and woodland caribou, are now either fully extirpated from the region or persist only in critically low numbers.
- Information about endangered plants is not as well documented as endangered animals.
- Plants and birds are impacted by seemingly harmless human activities, such as agriculture.
We are incredibly grateful to our volunteers who have dedicated their time to helping us shine a light on some of our state’s most fragile species.
As we look ahead to 2025, we are excited to begin community outreach and we’ll also continue to explore more about our state’s amazing resources.
