Spring 2019 – 3 years in the making

Hurry up! No, wait a minute.

I mean – – wait three years! So here we are, almost summer 2019 and finally we have two new flowers for our bees.

Columbine

These perennials come in a variety of colors and shapes, all having the same leaves.

Chives

And wow! Who knew chives would be so tasty! Both bumblebees and honey bees are loving these sprouts.  I had no idea it’d take so long to get to this state. But, they made it through a tough winter. Hopefully they’ll stick around for a few more years.

Yes, three years ago, I planted both chives and columbine from seed. I can’t believe they took so long to finally flower, but definitely worth the wait.

It’s all about the bees after all. Our healthiest hive, fully of capped brood.

Hoping for a good growing season, balanced with lots of sun and a decent amount of rain.   Enjoy the long days and warm nights.
