I’m very delinquent in getting this posted, as I completed the barn conversion over a year ago. Now that I’m no longer working, I guess I have no excuse for getting so far behind…
After all the interior walls were removed, I poured concrete footings for the posts required to support the new glulam beams.
Here’s what the new open 24′ x 32′ garage space looked like after the glulam beams were installed, and all interior posts /walls removed. Much more functional for our use of the barn.
The next step was to have a concrete guy come. He removed the existing floor down the middle of the barn, and the curbs along each side, and poured a fresh new seamless concrete floor across the entire space.
After the concrete cured for about 3 months, I epoxy painted the floor, and moved everything back into the barn. The old farm truck now has a safe/dry new home, instead of being outside under a canopy. I have a nice new workbench, built almost entirely from re-purposed lumber from the barn conversion. The space is much more usable for us now.
