Jan
Even with such a warm winter, not much happening in Jan. However, my friend from work (Martine!), shared some good Pacific Northwest gardening tips. Here’s to Belgium hospitality with a bunch of inspiration!
Here is how the garden started–a well used place in the yard, the entrance way to the pasture.

On the sunniest side of the property, I’m going to try gardening again. On this very spring day, with hail and rain, then sun later in day, Greg and Jacob got some top soil and did a bit of terracing for me.

Prepping for berries.
We brought in 50 Caroline raspberry plants from Spooner Farms and 4 Marionberry plants from Gray Barn.

March
Beautiful lithodora in the spring. The local bumblebees really like it. It’s a great draught resistant plant.

May
The hop plant that I moved since it would have been right in the bee path is not doing well. I’ll have to move it again…
Moles burrowed into the garden, and took out my beets and cucumbers. 😦
June
In addition to traditional herbs, we are trying lettuce, spinach, carrot, beet, cauliflower, garlic and green beans.

September
The bees are liking the Northwest Wildflower patch. Also the Carolines are beginning to fruit–yay!
